هدف پژوهش حاضر اثربخشی درمان مبتنی بر شفقت بر کاهش نشخوار فکری، تحمل پریشانی و احساس انسجام در بیماران مبتلا به ام اس بود. طرح این پژوهش از نظر هدف کاربردی، از نظر روش اجرا طرح نیمه تجربی از نوع پیش آزمون-پس آزمون با گروه کنترل بود. جامعه آماری پژوهش شامل کلیه ی بیماران زن مراجعه کننده به انجمن ام اس تهران در سال 1398 بودند که با توجه به ملاک های ورود و خروج به مطالعه و پس از غربالگری اولیه (تکمیل پرسشنامه های مرحله پیش آزمون)، 30 بیمار زن به شیوه در دسترس انتخاب و با گمارش تصادفی در دو گروه 15 نفره آزمایش و کنترل قرار گرفتند. ابزارهای گردآوری داده ها شامل پرسشنامه های نشخوار ذهنی- تامل نیما قربانی (RRS)، تحمل پریشانی سیمونز و گاهر (DTS) و حس انسجام آنتونووسکی (SOC)  بود. تحلیل داده ها با استفاده از روش تحلیل کواریانس چندمتغیره و نرم افزار 25spss  انجام گرفت.  نتایج پژوهش بیانگر آن است که میان گروه آزمایش و کنترل از لحاظ نشخوار ذهنی، تحمل پریشانی و حس انسجام تفاوت معنی داری در سطح (0.001> P) وجود دارد. درمان مبتنی بر شفقت  یکی از درمان های حوزه روان شناسی موج سوم است که موجب کاهش نشخوار ذهنی و افزایش در تحمل پریشانی و احساس انسجام بیماران مبتلا به ام اس شده است.
