English

The present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of integrated group therapy of acceptance, commitment, and self-compassion on distress tolerance and suicide resilience in married women with domestic violence experience. The research method was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test, post-test, and follow-up design with a control group. The statistical population included married women with domestic violence experience referring to counseling centers in Isfahan in 1403, of which 30 were selected through purposive sampling and randomly assigned to two intervention groups (15 people) and control groups (15 people). The intervention group underwent 8 90-minute sessions of integrated group therapy of acceptance, commitment, and self-compassion, while the control group remained on the waiting list. Data were collected using the Distress Tolerance Scale and the Suicide Resilience Scale and analyzed using a mixed analysis of variance with repeated measures in SPSS version 28. The findings showed that the interaction effect of time and group on distress tolerance (total score and components of tolerance, absorption, appraisal, and regulation) and suicide resilience (total score and components of internal protection and emotional stability) was significant (P<0.05). The results also showed that the changes made in the intervention group remained stable at the one-month follow-up stage. Based on the findings of the study, group therapy combined with acceptance and commitment and self-compassion can be used as an effective intervention to increase distress tolerance and suicide resilience in women with domestic violence experience by increasing psychological flexibility, reducing experiential avoidance, and improving emotion regulation.
